Exhibitions Program

The Exhibitions Program offers combinations of professionally produced exhibitions and fine arts-based events. Exhibitions feature local, regional, national, and international artists, as well as arts organizations, in all disciplines and genres. Curators and collection lenders are also provided exhibition, arts education, and community outreach opportunities. Exhibitions are often supplemented, and cross-collaborated with the Arts Education and Presenting Programs to develop educational and interactive components such as demonstrations, gallery talks, receptions, residencies, and workshops.

Four to six featured exhibitions are scheduled in the Grand Galleries annually to comprise the Exhibition Season.

Each season will include diversity of topics, media, expression, education, and stimulating experiences to best serve target audiences and the community-at-large. Our eclectic programming encourages curiosity, improves quality of life, rewards repeat patronage, and supports artists in our region.

Opportunies for Artists

Exhibitions programming is developed from an on-going Call For Proposals. This process empowers artists, arts educators, curators, and collection lenders to be considered for exhibition and programming opportunities.

The Grand Galleries Advisory Committee serves in an advisory role working under the direction of the Gallery Supervisor to review and recommend proposals for featured exhibitions and events.

Artists can also consider exhibiting individual or small groupings of works in our curated cooperative artspace called Art Co-Opted, located in the south gallery. The Co-Op features combinations of original artwork, limited editions and artist-designed products with low price points. These items are available for a limited time only. As the Galleries are part of a larger interdisciplinary arts center fostering community involvement and life-learning, products incorporating arts education and art-making are encouraged. Local musicians, writers, poets, spoken words artists, cartoonist and animators can also participate.

If you are an artist, arts educator, curator, or lender who is interested in submitting a proposal, please download the 2011-12 Call For Proposals for more information. This document contains information for both exhibition opportunites as well as a floor plan of the galleries.
